THE HELLO WE SHARE
Privacy & site use
Last updated November 7, 2026
The Hello We Share is an independent project by Jeffrey A. Smith in Piperton, Tennessee. This page explains how I handle information when you visit or write to me, and how to use the materials shared here.
Visiting the site
You can read, explore the map, and turn the letters without creating an account or submitting personal information. The project website does not use advertising trackers, analytics scripts, or its own cookies. The hosting service may process technical information such as your IP address, browser information, and pages requested to deliver and protect the site. The private preview may also use its host’s sign-in cookies.
Writing to me
If you email me, I receive your email address, the name your email service includes, and whatever you send. If you write by post, I receive the contents of your letter and any name or return address you include. I use that information to read and respond to your note, keep track of correspondence, and follow up about anything you choose to share. Please leave out sensitive details and information about other people unless you have their permission.
Sharing your words
I’ll ask before publishing your words, name, photos, or other materials. You can keep your reply private or ask to share it anonymously. The map displays stories approved for publication. I don’t sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Service providers and retention
Hosting, email, and postal services handle information as needed to deliver the site or your correspondence. I may also disclose information if required by law. I keep correspondence as needed to respond, manage the project, and keep track of what you’ve agreed to share.
Children’s privacy
People of any age are welcome to read and explore. The site is intended for a general audience. I don’t knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you’re under 13 and want to get in touch, please ask a parent or guardian to write on your behalf. If you believe a child under 13 has sent me personal information, email the privacy address below so I can review and remove it as appropriate.
Using what’s shared here
You’re welcome to share a link to the project. Please ask before republishing letters, photos, or artwork. A contributor’s permission for me to share their story here doesn’t automatically extend to other uses.
Questions and requests
You can ask about your information, request a correction or deletion, or ask me to remove something from the project website. Email privacypolicy@helloweshare.us.
Updates to this page
I may update this page from time to time. The date at the top tells you when it last changed. Please check back for the current version. I may make routine updates without individual notice. If a change requires notice or consent, I’ll provide it as required.
